If you are an Engineering major interested in going to Texas Tech University, Mrs. Jerrett has information for a Bridge program from July 8 to Aug 8. There is an information sheet in the hall near Mr. Tamez's room.

See Mrs. Jerrett about information on the College of Architecture Camp (Camp ARCH) at Texas A&M University from July 13-19. The camp is for grades 9-12 or incoming freshmen.

The Texas Lutheran University is having their 11th annual Lone Star Scholars Academy during two summer sessions. You can earn one hour of college credit per session for these programs. Cost is $750 per session and they are available for students who have completed at least their freshmen yr in high school. Students must rank in the top 50% of their class.

Juniors, this is a new web based tool to help you and your families estimate calculations for the amount of financial aid you may be eligible for when you apply in the early spring of your senior year.

Any student in grades 5-12 who "has engaged in a volunteer activity that occurred at least in part after September 1, 2005" can be nominated as the local honoree for our school.  Applications will be judged on:
  • Initiative - How much personal initiative was involved in the activity?  Did the applicant initiate the activity on his/her own or demonstrate exceptional leadership or motivation in an already organized activity?
  • Effort - How much time and effort did the activity require?  Did the applicant have to overcome significant obstacles?
  • Impact - How much of a difference did the service activity make?  Were a significant number of people affected, or were the lives of certain individuals impacted in a major way?
  • Personal Growth - Did the applicant develop new insights or skills from the experience?  Does the application reflect a sound understanding of the importance of serving others?
One middle school and one high school application can be turned in by our school.  Please tell interested students to see Mrs.Jerrett at the high school for an application.  Thank you!

Is you child turning sixteen and able to get their drivers license? If so, you or the student must pick up a Verification of Enrollment and Attendance form from the high school office to obtain their license. This form is required by the state for a student to receive a license. If you have any questions, please call the high school office.

Under federal law, virtually all men must register with Selective Service within 30 days of their 18th birthday.  However, the Selective Service System now accepts early submission of registration information by 17 year old men.  The Agency holds their registration information and automatically enters their data into the system when they turn 18.  The fastest way to register is on-line at www.sss.gov.  If you have any questions, please contact Stacy Jerrett.
