Action on Matters Considered in Closed Session:
May 14th meeting- Hired Jamie Payne as the new HS principal. Mr. Payne is the current K-12 principal at Gordon ISD.
May 27th meeting- Kerey Massey was hired as a first grade teacher at the elementary. Jessica Whiteman was hired as a high school math teacher. Robin Loflin was hired as the high school counselor.
Hearing of the Patrons:
No patrons signed up to speak at either meeting.
Business Action Items:
May 14th meeting- Approved the Region XI contracts for 2008-2009.
Authority was given to the superintendent to evaluate and approve bids on the renovation of the Basham house for a future administration office for the district. It was discussed that the house could also be used as a possible future childcare center for employees if another administration building were constructed at a later date.
May 27th meeting- Bids were accepted as proposed by Buford Thompson Construction Co. to finish the Phase II dirtwork, drainage, concrete work, necessary for the track, tennis courts, tennis pavilion, agricultural building, and onsite materials storage. The bids totaled $1,921,642.
Business Discussion Items:
A target date for July 3, 2008 was agreed on “to propose a date” for a Town Hall meeting to present drawings of the new high school and information on cost of the construction to the community. Bids will be opened for all phases of the high school on June 26th at 3:00pm in the offices of Buford Thompson and presented to the Board at a special meeting held on July 3rd at 8:00 am at the Brock ISD Board room.
The date of the Town Hall meeting will be communicated on this website, the marquee, and local newspaper. The format will be a come and go reception with the architect, construction manager, administration, and Board members present to discuss and answer questions that the public might have of the building project.
Phase I dirtwork should be completed within the first week of June and Phase II will begin right after.
