BISD Board Meeting Information
September 10, 2007
Closed Session:
1. Discussion of land and real property purchase
Open Session:
1. No action was taken on matters in closed session.
Hearing of the Patrons:
1. No patrons signed up to speak.
Business Action:
1. The Board appointed Earl McGee as Delegate and Myron Cole as the Alternate Delegate for the 2007 Fall Convention.
2. A contract for the Brock ISD Construction Manager at Risk was approved with the company of Buford Thompson Construction.
3. A settlement agreement was reached with Miracle Construction to complete a power washing of the elementary exterior and seal the exterior masonry with Sure Klean Weather Seal Siloxane PD to waterproof and protect the building’s exterior surface.
4. The Board approved the TASB Policy Update 81.
Business Discussion:
1. Brent Baker from Weatherford College presented information on the
upcoming bond election for new facilities.
2. Information for the Fall Dallas TASB Convention was presented.
3. An update on the Elementary roof litigation was presented and no court
date has yet been set for our appeal.
4. Construction Manager at Risk fees were reduced by $40,000.
The school calendar has been changed in that a snow day originally scheduled for April 28, has been moved to May 5, because of state changes in the April TAKS testing dates.
5. The October 8, regular Board meeting has been changed to October 15,
due to a teacher/student holiday being on the 8th.
****We have now contracted with Buford Thompson to serve as our Construction Manager at Risk, Harper/Perkins as our architect for the project, and have signed a contract on the Basham Estate of 162 acres. We have 30 days to do our environmental testing on the property and hope to close soon after that 30 day period. When we close on the property, preliminary drawings will begin and we hope to video-cam the construction site so that the public can follow construction via the internet.
