Board Meeting December 10, 2007

Action on Matters Considered in Closed Session:

            The Board extended the Superintendent’s contract back to three years from Jan. 1, 2008 to June 30, 2011.   The Board also granted a 4.7% salary increase to the Superintendent based on areas such as performance, fund balance increase, and academic achievement of the district.

Hearing of the Patrons:

There were no patrons signed up to speak.

Brock I.S.D. Spotlight:

            There was no spotlight at this meeting.

Business Action Items:

            The Board approved the advertisement for the sale of  a portable and carport at the Basham Property.

            The Board approved the advertisement for the Sale of Unused Property in the District.

            The Board approved the rental of the double wide on the Basham Property for $350 per month after notification to the district of its availability and the possibility of the rental of the main house at the same property later in the Spring.

Business Discussion Items:

            Todd Horton spoke to the Board concerning plans of the Brazos Valley Football Association in Brock to use and make improvements to the football field inside the track at the present High School.   Mr. Horton said there were 67 boys and 30 girls in the elementary grades 1-6 that were interested in forming Brock teams for football.   Interested parties were raising money to finance goal posts, irrigation system, field renovations, etc. to utilize the field as both a practice and game field for the coming Fall.

Architect Ralph Perkins gave the Board an update on the development of plans for the new High School.   Plan development is running behind schedule and increased effort will be given to develop the building footprint and hasten actual drawings of the plans.

Superintendent Richard Tedder reported that the district AEIS reports were in and went over the report with the Board.   Copies of the AEIS are on line for the public and a copy can be obtained from the District Administration Office or any of the Campus Offices.

            The superintendent updated the Board on the damage to the Elementary/Middle School cafeteria.   Mike Cox will repair the masonry damage and contractors are being contacted to repair damage to the floor and ceiling.   Repairs should be complete over the Christmas holidays.   Also, the new Elementary/Middle school roof project will begin just before the holidays and hopefully will be completed by the end of January.   The roof will be a blue membrane roof similar to that used at the American Airlines Center and the new Cowboy Stadium in Arlington.

            January is Board Appreciation month and the meeting will be held on January 14, 2008.   The annual Brock ISD staff Christmas party will be held at 6:30 pm at Willow Lake Gardens at 3400 Mineral Wells Hwy.   We hope all the staff and Board members can attend.

            The Quarterly investment report was given by Carolyn Branch and the current investment account balance is $21,344,413 after purchase of the Basham Property.  LOGIC interest for the month ending 11/30/07 was 4.94%.

            Elementary principal Dee Ann Mills, gave the Board required information on the TPRI (Texas Primary Reading Inventory) for grades K-2.
